What is Asbestos?
Asbestos is a group of naturally occurring minerals that can be separated into flexible fibres. These minerals are extremely durable, and known for their heat, fire, and electricity retardant properties. Asbestos is a hazardous building material that can cause disease. Undisturbed asbestos presents no direct health hazard but can be harmful should fibres be released and inhaled.
Why Test for Asbestos?
Asbestos-related diseases, like lung cancer and mesothelioma, are caused by asbestos fibres inhaled and lodged in the lungs. It is important to test for asbestos before initiating any building repairs, improvements on structures or the demolition of buildings that were built prior to 1978. Asbestos may be present in paint, insulation, siding, roof shingles, and a variety of other household materials. Our expert team has the right knowledge and tools to find out where it is, and how to safely remove it.
